Aerie

The osprey — Pandion haliaetus — is one of the most widely distributed birds of prey on earth. It has existed, unchanged, for approximately 11 million years. It survived every mass extinction. It survives the specific modern problem of habitat loss by building its nest higher: on power pylons, cell towers, the highest points of artificial structures never intended as habitat. It adapts the available environment to its requirements. It does not move to accommodate others.

Aerie is the word for a bird of prey's nest, always built at height. The name applies both to the nest itself and to the quality of thinking that builds at elevation — above the complications of ground level, with the full view.

The pale blue enamel flower in the osprey's talons is not prey. It is a choice the bird made, at altitude, before returning. Something carried deliberately from the distance back to the center.

This pendant is for the woman who has built at height and knows the view from there. Not a metaphor — a description of a particular position in a room.

Full casting in platinum-enhanced sterling silver (925/50). The wingspan is 65mm — this is a piece that requires physical presence to hold its intention.

Each primary feather is individually cast from a separate model and joined to the body assembly, giving the wing surface its characteristic three-dimensional texture that cannot be achieved in a single pour. This is not a detail that reads in photographs. It is a detail that reads in the hand and on the chest.

The powder blue enamel flower is cold-enamel, applied to a separately cast flower base and set in the osprey's talons. The enamel is worked after the metal casting is complete and finished — the sequence matters because heat applied after enamel setting would compromise the color stability.

Chain: platinum-enhanced sterling silver, solid box link, 20 inches. Solid-link, not hollow. The chain weight is calibrated to balance the pendant at its correct resting position — a lighter chain would allow the piece to shift; this one holds it.

Sizing and Presence
The Aerie spans 65mm across — the largest piece in the collection. The 20-inch chain positions the osprey at mid-chest, which is its correct and only position. Do not shorten the chain. The pendant is designed to occupy the center of the chest at that specific height.

Palette
The white gold and powder blue enamel set a cool, precise palette. The garment responds in kind.

A clean-cut blazer in dove grey or slate, worn open over a simple fitted top in ivory or white. The osprey sits at the center of the chest. Nothing at the ear. One ring.

A silk charmeuse column dress in midnight navy or slate. Under cool light the white gold reads as the brightest point in the look — which it should be. The wingspan reads horizontally against the vertical of the dress.

Nothing at the neck but this. Nothing at the wrist of the side you gesture with. A structured heel or clean ankle boot.
